Greetings from the director and cast of After the Storm!
A couple of weeks ago, I received word from a Brother Langis, who is Secretary of Benevolent Lodge #7 in Milford, New Hampshire. He had happened upon my casting call in the Oregon Masonic News, and recognized the author, W.B. Richard Schanda.
Brother Langis was good friends with MWB. Schanda, and informed me that he went on to become Grand Master of New Hampshire in 1998 and 1999 after writing After the Storm, and had passed away in 2004. Brother Langis was delighted to hear that we were going to perform After the Storm, and particularly interested in how
“a play written by a NH Mason about a Maine Lodge made it all the way across the country.”
It was wonderful to hear from Brother Langis, and just goes to show how unexpected the results of one’s actions can be. We look forward to honoring the memory of a Past Grand Master with our rendition of his play.
As we continue to work on the play, its easy to predict a great opening night at Friendship’s September Stated Communication. And we already have two other lodges who have requested us to perform this work for them. May brotherly love prevail!
