Two brothers received their Service Award for 60 years service to Masonry.

Douglas H. Parrott made a Master Mason on August 1, 1956.

William A. Anderton made a Master Mason September 15, 1956.

I would love to hear from anybody that knows these brothers, and if you brothers would call me so I can hear stories about Friendship Lodge in the 1950’s would be great.

Brothers there is a few of you that have not paid dues for this Masonic year, please ensure you dues are paid. I will send out notice to each of you next month that may have forgot to pay their dues.

Give me your hand;
You are rich; I am poor;
Your wealth is your power, and by it you tread
A wide open path; where for me is a door
That is locked; and before it are worry and dread.
We are sundered, are we,
As two men can be
But we are two brothers in Freemasonry
So give me your hand. Read More

Quinn Hasse - Entered Apprentice Degree

Congratulations, Brother Quinn!

By | General News | No Comments

At long last, Friendship has made Quinn Hasse a Brother Mason. On Wednesday, May 18 Friendship 160 welcomed out newest Entered Apprentice into the fraternity. That night marked a turning point in his life as well as Friendship Lodge’s as this was the first degree in several years performed entirely with an inhouse cast; with our Junior Warden conferring his first degree and our Super Senior Deacon, Brian Gardes performing in a degree for the first time since his own.

A bright night for everyone indeed and only the first degree of the year! Join us and Brother Quinn for our next Stated Meeting on Wednesday, June 7, and come back for our next EA degree on June 21, when we continue with this great and good work.

The Temperate Man

A visit to the Northwest Masonic Discussion page on Facebook is highly recommended to those with the luxury of time, some familiarity of the format, and the right machinery. For those who have none of the above, let this stand for a substitute! Recent conversations there, between Brothers from across our region, have covered the following topics: Whether UGLE is right to have participated in a documentary showing Blue Lodge degree work start to finish; whether one-day classes for Blue Lodge degrees in Ohio are a good idea; a call for papers from the Quator Coronati Conference; whether the use of technology (specifically, video-chatting over the internet) to practice degree work is a violation of secrecy; identifying vintage sterling Masonic calling-card cases as such; a brief history of anti-Masonry; and last, but not least, an open discussion of the meaning of “Temperance.” It is this last subject that inspired what follows here – a very brief look at Temperance as a Masonic Virtue. Kent Smith Becomes a Master Mason

By | General News | No Comments

Friday nights are usually not the lodge’s meeting night, but the lodge made an exception this time to accommodate a special event: The raising of Brother Kent Smith to the sublime degree of Master Mason.

The evening wasn’t just about raising a brother; it was also about creating a family legacy where the fourth and final brother of the Smith family finally became a member of the fraternity. To mark this auspicious event, WB Alan Smith and Brother Daniel Smith — both from George W. Lininger Lodge No. 268 in Omaha, Nebraska — were in attendance. WB Alan also played an important role in the degree, practicing extensively to make sure that his part conformed to Oregon ritual requirements.

Brother Kent Smith follows Brother Daniel Smith in joining the Craft. The first of the Smith brothers who was initiated was WB Alan Smith, then followed by WB Stephen Smith.
