As usual, our second Wednesday was filled with Fellowship and Board games. We ordered some sandwiches, and played through a game of Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate, one of our favorites.
We’re officially back from summer, and we’re making a splash! We had a fantastic meeting last night, despite the scorching heat in the Temple during this heat wave. Many folks even spiced it up with some Hawaiian shirts! Prior to the meeting we had a delicious BBQ dinner, procured by Brother Hunter. At the meal, we were also blessed to have the attendance of three prospects who were inquiring about our Lodge! After dinner, we had a great meeting with a few lovely presentations. The Worshipful Master presented Worshipful Brother Jimmie with his Past Master’s Apron, which he picked out himself to great effect. Presenting the immediate Past Master a customized apron is a Friendship Tradition going back to WB Leo’s year. Brother Kyle also had a fantastic surprise for all of us: the completion of the restoration work on a piece of art we found in our back room! He also gave a wonderful history of the piece and what was discovered about it during the restoration. After the meeting we retired to the Clubhouse for refreshment and fellowship, as is our habit.
After a nice long summer of going dark and enjoying Fellowship, we are back to business. We met at the Clubhouse for our Officer’s Meeting, and discussed some of our upcoming business including charity and volunteering, upcoming degrees, our retreat, and more! All while enjoying some delicious chicken!
We met this week to confer Brother Burgos Fellowcraft Degree! It was a wonderful evening with some fantastic performances by our Brothers, especially Chris and Walter who we greatly appreciate for their help. After the degree, we continued our tour of Portland Pizzerias with some delicious Pizza Jerk from Downtown!
We met on another warm day in the Clubhouse for fellowship, and we took advantage of the new Switch! The turn out was really solid for a summer off week, with eight of us enjoying some Fellowship. We ordered in some pizza, enjoyed some dinner together and whisked away to the back room for some classic Nintendo shenanigans. We had a great time until one of the controllers died 30 mins into the game. Hunter was in the lead, but we’ll have to determine the true champion next week!
Portland is just coming out of a heatwave! Since last week, we’ve had very warm weather with Sun-Tuesday all hitting over 100. It was 93 or so on Wednesday, and the Clubhouse was a little warm. That didn’t stop us from cranking up the fan, and spending some quality time together though!
Keeping up with a yearly Friendship tradition, we met at Kent’s house yesterday for Liberty and Hamburgers to celebrate America’s Birthday. There was a good spread with burgers, brats, and all the fixins. Chris and Hunter went undefeated in 5 rounds of Cornhole, putting everyone to shame. Partway through, our Senior Warden presented Worshipful Master Patrick with a Olive Wood Gavel from Greece to celebrate his year in the east. On the handle, we had an inscription carved in Greek saying, “I can’t say I deserve better” which is a famous quote from our WM. All in all a fantastic day for Fellowship.
This year we decided to try something a little different. We went dark for the summer as usual, but we chose, instead, to go on some summer outings in place of our business meetings. For this first one, we went to Bullwinkles in Wilsonville! We had some fun in the arcade while we waited for everyone to arrive, and then we played 18 holes of minigolf. Afterwards, some of us split off for some late night grub. Everyone had a wonderful time, and we all agreed we should do it again next year!
Since we’re going dark (skipping our business meetings) for July and August, we had a very informal Officer’s Meeting. We discussed the upcoming summer events including our 4th of July BBQ and a possible outing to go minigolfing!
We had a lively and enjoyable meeting in the second week of June. Our stated was pushed back to accommodate the Grand Lodge Annual Communication. We had a vote to increase our dues and lifetime membership fee which passed unanimously. We also discussed our summer programming including our plan to have our 4th of July celebration the first weekend of July. Most importantly, our Brother Entered Apprentice Burgos gave his proficiency for the EA degree tonight and passed with flying colors. We will hopefully be looking to perform his FC degree next month.
